If you were interested in the comet, the AI ​​web browser of Perplexity, you probably know it’s Gatkept. Perplexity has tests limited to a small pool of its maximum subscribers, which costs $ 200 per month. Unless you are ready to burn $ 2,400 a year on an AI subscription, you have probably resigned to watch the comet from afar.
While Perplexity Max will remain $ 200 per month in the foreseeable future, you don’t really have to pay as much to give Comet a tour. In fact, you have nothing to pay at all. Indeed, Perplexity now offers access to the comet and to Perplexity Pro, the subscription of $ 20 per month ($ 200 per year), free of charge, for one year.
The agreement is via Paypal and its subsidiary, Venmo. On Wednesday, the company announced the partnership in a press release, turning news as an improved AI way for Paypal users to shop for. It is by Ryan Foutty, vice-president of business at Perplexity, who said: “The comet’s browser is like a personal buyer and a personal assistant in one, so we are delighted that Paypal users have early access to the comet.”
The question of whether users will treat COME as a “personal buyer” is certainly in the air. For its part, Perplexity launches Comet as a browser fueled by AI which acts both as a “personal assistant” and “partner of thought”. You can look for things as you would with another Chatbot AI ready for the Internet, but Comet is also able to perform tasks on your behalf. This would include purchases, but also things such as reservation of meetings, response to emails, research and automatic passwords.
PayPal offers Perplexity Pro and Comet, via its new subscription center: the company says that this feature is designed to help users manage their subscriptions in a central place and, to launch it, your test and perplexity pro subscription can be found here. If you are interested in this offer, you have two ways to take advantage of it. Paypal says you can find promotion in the Paypal application or the VenMo application. I did not find the promotion in my VenMo application, but after downloading the Paypal app and signed in my account, I saw Perplexity Pro available under “features in features”.

Although my Perplexity Pro subscription has activated without problem, I am not yet able to take advantage of the comet’s offer. Currently, while heading to the comet’s official website while being connected to my account, I have the opportunity to register for the waiting list or “jump the line” by upgrading to Pro. If I choose the latter, since I have a pro, it simply brings me to a page telling me about the advantages of the pro plan – although, without mention of the comet.
It could be something that perplexity has its time. Until then, I have put my account on the waiting list, just to see if it accelerates things.
