Tremaine Edmunds injury update: Bears linebacker placed on injured reserve

The Bears have placed star linebacker Tremaine Edmunds on injured reserve with a groin issue, the team announced Saturday afternoon. Running back Roschon Johnson (back) was also added to IR.

These players will miss at least the next four games.

Linebacker Carl Jones Jr. and running back Brittain Brown were placed on the 53-man practice squad roster.

The prolonged loss of Edmunds is a blow to a Bears defense that has suffered serious injuries to key players for most of the season. For example, the team will be without its three starting linebackers in Sunday’s game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. Linebacker TJ Edwards has missed the last two games. Cornerback Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon were designated to return from injured reserve but, as expected, will remain on IR until the Steelers game.
