“Throughout the flight, I impatiently awaited a special evening with Doug. Although we are a lot separated on these days, campaigning in different cities, for my birthday, our staff conspired so that we can find ourselves in Philadelphia,” writes Harris, celebrating his 60th anniversary on the countryside.
“I was wondering what he had planned for our evening. The simple answer: nothing. Not one thing, ”she says.

The former vice-president adds that she did not go at the time how the campaign and the attacks against her had focused on her husband. Harris then lists all the ways she says that Emhoff did not meet her birthday’s expectations.
“He had not thought about where we stayed that evening, so the staff had chosen a place for us that they thought they were a little more special than the usual country hotel,” writes Harris.
She then details how one of her collaborators had chosen two special restaurants so that the couple could eat to celebrate Harris’ birthday. The assistant asked for help from Emhoff on the menu, but he raised his shoulders and told the manager to ask Harris, according to the book.
“Doug had at least thought of having a gift for me,” wrote the former vice-president, noting that the pair of earrings he had obtained from the same designer who gave the gift he had obtained for their birthday.
“When I returned it, I saw that the support of the pearls had been engraved with the date. As it is reflected, to commemorate the trace of my big birthday. But I looked more closely, ”writes Harris.
“The date was not my birthday. It was the date of our wedding anniversary. He obviously intended to give me the two pieces of our birthday, until it happens to him that by reappearing a piece, he could kill two birds with a stone, “she continues.

The final straw was after Harris went to take a bath, forgot a towel and had trouble reaching Emhoff to get help, according to his book.
“And then we entered.” But we were not all the married couples. Doug stopped the cold argument. As soon as his words had come out, the truth landed on me like a bucket of icy water. “We cannot turn one on top of each other.” “
After revealing how the dispute ended, the former vice -president explains that his assistant – was preferred as Storm in the book – ordered the former second gentleman to repair the mess that Harris thought he created.
“The next day, she said to Doug,” Mr. Second Gentleman, you have to solve this problem. She gave him a set of notes cards.
“Since then, in the election, whatever the city that each of us had landed, at the end of the day, I would find a note on my pillow, in Doug chicken scratch, telling me how much he loved me,” she concludes.
