This Linux Workstation Laptop Has an RTX 5090 Inside
Kubuntu Focus, the manufacturer who manufactures PC Kubuntu Linux only, announced a new laptop at the workstation, the Focus Zr Gen 1. The heavy laptop is supposed to be a replacement of office by its dedicated GPU options.
You can now configure your order for the first ZR Focus laptop with its 18-inch WQXGA WQXGA panel which supports the 2560×1600 resolution and the NVIDIA G-SYNC. In terms of processing power, the laptop powered by Kubuntu contains an ultra 9 275HX Intel with 24 cores and a maximum clock speed of 5.4 GHz. You can choose the NVIDIA GeForce RTX 5080 supplied with 16 GB of Video RAM, or an additional $ 800 that you can upgrade to the 5090 and its total VRAM of 24 GB.
In terms of storage and memory, the basic configuration includes an internal SSD of 1 TB which uses the PCIe 5.0 standard. There are locations for three additional storage discs, and you can configure the 32 GB RAM up to 192 GB of DDR5 memory. It is not intended for your LibreOffice and Firefox workloads of everyday.
Regarding connectivity, you get the last Wi-Fi 7 support and the 2.5 gigabit Ethernet ports of 2.5 gigabit. It connects to other devices via Bluetooth 5.4, HDMI 2.1 and two USB Type-C Thunderbolt 5 ports. There is also a microSD card reader, two USB-A 3.2 USB-A ports and a good 3.5 mm audio plug with micro support.
The Focus ZR is a new range of products for Kubuntu Focus. So far, the Focus M2 Gen 6 has been its most powerful offer. For those who do not want a laptop at all, the Mini PC Focus NX Gen 3 has just been announced last month. I write this article on A Focus IR14, the smallest and most affordable laptop in the range. I recently wrote that I am a year with the IR14 and quite satisfied with the purchase. The ZR focus, however, has a much larger punch than what I generally need, to be frank.
The announcement of the ZR focus arrives at a time when Windows laptop owners face a crossroads, the free final update for Windows 10 is only a few months old. In addition to that, Windows has become even more inflated than before with the thrust of the Microsoft co -pilot. It is possible to change the operating system from your computer to Linux, but it takes the technical knowledge and the confidence that many do not have. A simpler option is to simply buy a computer with preinstalled Linux, such as the ZR focus.
