US sprint star Fred Kerley provisionally suspended for whereabouts failures | Athletics

The American star of the sprint Fred Kerley faces a two -year ban after being suspended by the athletics integrity unit for missing three doping tests over a period of 12 months.
Kerley, who won the silver medal for more than 100m at the Tokyo 2020 Games before taking bronze in Paris last year, received the suspension of the AIU on Tuesday for three failures where he is.
However, Kerley, who also won the 100m world championship in 2022, immediately said that he would dispute the suspension saying that he was not responsible for one of the missed tests.
In a press release published on behalf of Kerley, his lawyer, Howard Jacobs, said: “He firmly believes that one or more of his alleged missed tests should be put aside either because he was not negligent or because the doping control officer did not do what was reasonable in the circumstances to locate him in his designated location.”
Kerley has been one of the best sprinters in the world for years. However, he withdrew from the American athletic athletics in July, writing on X: “Take time to get back on the right track. The 100m should be a straight sprint. 2025 has presented many obstacles. Thank you to all my supporters. “
On a busy day for athletics, the Swedish Vaulter Mondo Duplantis broke the world record for the 13th time by cleaning 6.29 m at the Gylai Istvan Memorial in Budapest.
The Swedish Vaulter was pushed by its Greek rival Emmanouil Karalis with the two men flying more than 6.02 m during their first attempts.
But Duplantis then released 6.11 m before moving the bar to 6.29 m – an increase of 1 cm on the height of the whole world that he cleaned in Stockholm in June – before careful during his second test.
