Knicks free agency: Jordan Clarkson intends to sign with New York after Jazz buyout, per reports

New York Knicks have a calm off-season compared to their two massive trades a year ago when they acquired Mikal Bridges and Karl-Anthony Towns to reshape their list. This summer’s activity would begin with Jordan Clarkson, who became a late addition to the free agency market on Monday when he and Utah Jazz accepted a takeover. The former sixth man of the year wanted to join a competitor and he and the Knicks have a mutual interest in concluding an agreement once he has erased the derogations, according to several reports.
The New York central group will remain intact in the 2025-26 season, but there is still work to do around the margins to try to build a conference final and solidify its place as a favorite of an oriental conference widely open this year.
One of their areas of need consists in adding an additional punch on the bench, because they depend incredibly on Jalen Brunson and their departure unit to create a large part of their offense. Finding someone to alleviate part of this pressure from Brunson and direct a bench unit, even if mainly for the regular season, had to be a focal point and it seems that the knicks are about to find their response with Clarkson.

Knicks journalists, Steve Popper, Ian Beggley and Stefan Bondy, all reported that the two parties had to conclude an agreement once Clarkson, 33, erase the exemptions later this week. Chris Haynes confirmed Clarkson’s intention to connect to New York later Monday evening. Knicks can offer Clarkson the intermediate level of taxpayers ($ 5.7 million) or a minimum agreement if it is ready to take one after having already obtained his jazz salary.

If the Knicks could put it at least, what Bondy reports would be the case, this would allow them to try to add another free impact agent with the Tax Mle, but in any case the punch of Clarkson on the bench will be welcome in New York. Clarkson collected an average of 16.2 points, 3.7 assists and 3.2 rebounds per game on 41/36/80 shots in 37 appearances for jazz last season.
