On Episode 185 of This Week In Space, Rod Pyle and Tariq Malik are joined by Josh Dinner to discuss the future of NASA’s Goddard Space Flight Center, given that it’s in the administration’s crosshairs.
With the cuts to their budget and workforce started under Elon Musk’s DOGE, the situation took a different shape with the government shutdown. Employees furloughed or retired from critical programs, labs closed, and entire facilities destroyed – all without Congressional approval. Once the shutdown ends, NASA’s premier research center — and the primary force responsible for what many now call “the C-word,” climate science — will be a shell of its former self. Dinner recently completed a months-long investigative report.
