MUNCIE, IN — An inmate at the Delaware County Jail already charged with attacking employees and patrons at a south-side tavern now stands accused of throwing urine at jail officers.

The latest allegations against Larry Robert Scott, a 53-year-old Muncie resident, led to a preliminary count of battery against a public safety official, a Level 6 felony carrying up to 30 months in prison.

Delaware County Prosecutor Eric Hoffman’s office will determine whether formal charges will be filed.

According to court documents, jail officers on Wednesday, Feb. 11, were trying to remove unspecified “contraband” from Scott’s cell when he threatened to throw a cup of urine on anyone entering the cell.

A jail corporal reported Scott showed him the cup and then “took a drink from the cup and held it in his mouth.”

He allegedly threw the cup in the direction of two officers who entered the cell while holding a shield. An officer wrote that he believed the cup had held urine “based on the color and smell.”

On Dec. 9, city police said Scott attacked several employees and patrons at the Red Dog Saloon, 1600 W. 23rd St., before he was shot by one of his victims.

Scott was accused of spitting at at least two employees at the south-side tavern before he “armed himself with metal bar stools and chairs” and “hurled them, at immense force, at no less than four victims,” according to an affidavit.

At least two of those victims were treated at IU Health Ball Memorial Hospital for injuries believed to include a possible fractured rib and collapsed lung, the court document said.

Scott’s gunshot wound was not life-threatening, investigators said.

In that case, the Muncie man is charged with two counts of aggravated battery, four counts of battery with a deadly weapon and three counts of battery by bodily waste. His trial is set for May 19 in Delaware Circuit Court 1.

He is being held in the jail under a $75,000 bond.
