Washington – Erika Kirk was appointed CEO of Turning Point USA, the conservative organization of youth founded and led by her husband, Charlie Kirk, to his assassination last week.

In addition to serving as CEO, Erika will also chair the group’s board of directors, according to an announcement on Thursday. The council said that Charlie Kirk had expressed that he wanted his wife to take over in the event of death. The vote was unanimous.

She alluded to this possibility in the days that followed the shooting, promising to “make turnover USA the greatest thing that this nation has ever seen”.

Erika Kirk is expected to appear alongside President Donald Trump and other eminent Republicans in a commemorative service on Sunday for her husband in Arizona, where the Kirk family lived.

Charlie Kirk, who was shot down during a speaking event in a UTA university, quickly increased in republican policy after having co-founded Turning Point USA in 2012. In the days following his death, Trump and other senior Republicans praised his efforts to stimulate republican participation among young voters during the 2024 presidential election.

Turning Point has built a network of chapters on university campuses across the country and has developed a strong presence on social networks, led by Charlie Kirk, which made frequent appearances in viral video clips.

“No one understood or had the hearts of young people from America better than Charlie,” said Trump on Trum Social last week.

Kirk was also known for his appearances on the campus, where he would challenge students to debate under the banner “Prove me wrong”. He was fatally killed on one of these events, struck by a single ball when he took the question of a member of the public.

In public remarks after her death, Erika Kirk promised to continue her husband’s inheritance, saying that the turning point “will become stronger, more daring, stronger and bigger than ever”.

“My husband’s mission will not end, not even for a moment.”

She is committed to continuing the Turning Point tour on university campuses, her Americafest conference and the radio and podcast program “of which he was so proud”.

“And in a world full of chaos, doubt and uncertainty, my husband’s voice will remain, and she will sound stronger and more clearly than ever, and her wisdom will last,” she added.

The Kirks had two young children.
