Every New Mega Evolution Officially Confirmed for Pokemon Legends: Z-A

The simple joy of catching and battling pocket monsters has always been enough for Pokémon to sell like gangbusters, but each new iteration always features some sort of new gimmick to shake up the gameplay. The upcoming Pokemon Legends: ZA includes one of the most popular ever introduced: Mega Evolutions.
Mega Evolutions debuted in Pokémon X and Y over a decade ago, and they quickly proved to be one of the most attractive new features. These powerful Pokémon forms are temporary evolutions that can only be activated once during each battle.
Mega Evolutions are the epitome of what makes Pokémon special to so many fans of the series. They’re rare (not all Pokémon have them), the designs build on the appearance of existing monsters, and add yet another layer to battle strategy.
While some leaks indicate that more than two dozen new Megas could be introduced to the game, Nintendo has officially confirmed less than a dozen massive Pokémon forms. I always keep my fingers crossed for fan favorites like Flygon.
The first major Pokémon game for the Switch 2 is ready to release in less than a week. Here is the complete list of officially confirmed Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: ZA.
All Pokémon Legends Officially Revealed: ZA’s Mega Evolutions
While we don’t know exactly how many Mega Evolutions will be featured in Pokemon Legends: ZA, we’re starting to get our first look at some of the new Pokemon designs. We’ve seen reveals of nine upcoming Mega Evolutions in Pokemon Legends: ZA.
Here are all the Pokémon that are confirmed to receive a Mega Form when the game releases, in order of their official reveals.
Mega Dragonite incorporates vestigial wings from its predecessor’s design.
Dragonite
The original Pokémon Dragon was the first mega evolution revealed before Pokemon Legends: ZA. The design – which cleverly incorporates the tail ball and wings of Dragonite’s predecessor – was showcased during July’s Pokemon Presents show.
It makes sense that Dragonite would be featured this time around: The Pokemon Company often draws on fan nostalgia surrounding the original games, and other powerful dragons like Salamence and Garchomp received these powerful evolutionary upgrades a long time ago.
Mega Victreebel was the cause of distress in a unique found footage marketing stunt.
Victreebel
Pokémon Red and Blue’s predatory plant grows in the upcoming game. Victreebel’s mega evolution was revealed on August 21 with a found-footage horror short. As a first generation Pokémon, Victreebel is a fan favorite. This mega evolution fills the plant with a purple poison even more pernicious than ever.
The flamboyant Mega Hawlucha is a force to be reckoned with in the ring.
Hawlucha
This fighting-type bird from Pokémon X and Y spreads its wings with a new mega evolution. Hawlucha’s mega evolution was revealed on August 28 as part of a special Rocky-style wrestling animation. This mega form evolves Hawlucha’s luchador identity, as the bird dons a new mask and costume.
Mega Malamar hypnotizes its opponents with its elongated tentacles.
Malamar
The hypnotic squid from Pokémon X and Y makes a triumphant return in Pokémon Legends: ZA’s iteration of the Kalos region. This mega evolution was revealed on September 10 in a fake news broadcast, in which Malamar uses his mind control powers to make the citizens of Lumiose City happier.
Mega Malamar is the first reveal of a monster originating from a sixth generation Pokémon game – the same games in which the Mega Evolution mechanic was introduced.
The least loved fifth generation starter finally gets some love with a fantastic mega evolution reveal.
Chesnaught
The grass-type starter from Pokemon X and Y is getting a makeover with a Pokemon Legends: ZA mega evolution. This form adds some bulk to the already chivalrous Chesnaught, including pauldrons and a spear. This mega evolution was revealed in the September Nintendo Direct and will be available as a Ranked Play reward.
Mega witch Delphox soars through the skies atop her magical broomstick.
Delphox
Chesnaught’s fire-type companion, Delphox, also received a mega evolution. The fox wizard now rides a broom and keeps an array of flaming wands on standby. This Mega Evolution will also be available as a Ranked Play reward in Pokemon Legends: ZA.
All of Greninja’s blood rushes to his head in his recently revealed mega form.
Greninja
The fan-favorite ninja frog got the most disappointing mega form of the black and white starter trio. Climbing beneath his water shuriken, Greninja loses all semblance of stealth and makes a flashy entrance. Just like its compatriots, the Mega Greninja will be available as a Ranked Play reward in Pokemon Legends: ZA.
Raichu X and Y are the posters for Pokemon Legends: ZA’s Mega Dimension DLC.
Raichu X and Y
Raichu will be one of the rare Pokémon to benefit from two different mega evolutions. This isn’t unprecedented – Mewtwo and Charizard have already received the split-mega evolution treatment. The Double-Tailed Raichu
