Exclusive–Steve Witkoff on Melania Trump as a ‘Great Human Being’

U.S. Special Envoy for the Middle East Steve Witkoff said Thursday at the red carpet world premiere of the new film Melanie documentary that the film is intended to present a more complete picture of first lady Melania Trump. He also expressed optimism about progress toward a resolution of the conflict in Ukraine.

Speaking about what he wanted the film to convey about First Lady Melania Trump, Witkoff said: “She’s a wonderful human being. I know her parents. I knew her mother before she passed. I know her as a mother. Her son, Baron, is a wonderful young man. She raised a fabulous son, just like her parents raised a fabulous daughter in her. I told her parents that and I told the first lady. I’m thrilled to watch this movie, and I think the world is I’m going to learn a lot about the first lady that she is.

More broadly, he added: “The president sets the table for all of us. His indomitable spirit permeates everything – that’s a paramount quality that he brings to these negotiations, and we can draw on that. The president, I think, is hopeful that we will be able to resolve the Ukraine conflict, and we are hopeful as well.”

We have made a lot of progress since Geneva, a lot, say the Ukrainians themselves. So I think we’re close. And closing is not done; I want to emphasize this. But we have made a lot of progress and let’s be optimistic.”
