Dearborn Mayor Loses His Crap When Confronted Over Street Named for a Community Leader and Hezbollah Simp – RedState
The failure of American multiculturalism has recently been exhibited in Dearborn, Michigan. The municipal council of Dearborn, a majority Arab city, held a meeting when the resident Edward “Ted” Barham intervened to speak. The subject made a street in honor of Bigwig Local and publisher of The Arab American News, Osama Siblani.
It all started innocently. “I’m sure he has done a lot of good things for the community,” said Barham, “starting the new American Arab.” Then he entered the meat of the problem.
He said: “He is a promoter of Hezbollah and Hamas” before quoting the past remarks of Siblani, in particular: “He tells how the blood of martyrs irrigates the country of Palestine … that we are in Michigan and that we are in Yemen. Believe me, everyone should fight in his means.
Barham compared the signs to name a road “Hezbollah Street or Hamas Street,” calling them “provocateurs” and stressing that as a Christian, he wanted to encourage peace. He closed by quoting Jesus: “Blessed are the craftsmen.”
Barham also reminded the municipal council that Hezbollah had led the 1982 attack on the marine barracks in Beirut, and that this could affect the Americans.
What followed was quite incredible. To say that the mayor Abdullah H. Hammoud has lost his shit is an understatement.
Mayor Hammoud responded with remarks that shocked many people present. “The best suggestion I have for you is not to drive on Warren avenue or to close my eyes while you do it. His name is up there and I talked during a ceremony celebrating it because it did a lot for this community,” said Hammoud.
He went further, accusing Barham of being “a fanatic, and you are racist, and you are an Islamophobic”, before declaring: “Although you live here, I want you to know as mayor, you are not welcome here. And the day you leave the city will be the day I launch a parade to celebrate the fact that you have left this city.”

This is outside of any part of the American political tradition. Nothing says in Barham’s declaration was in any way racist or “Islamophobic”. The way the mayor used “you” could easily lead to believing that he did not speak to Barham individually, but to all the non-Arab in Dearborn. Elected officials cannot tell citizens that they are not welcome in America. When they do it, others should get up and remind them that they are servants of the people, not an imam who establishes the law in Gaza or Damascus. This municipal council, however, was completely intimidated in silence, forgetting that the petition of our government on the grievances is a fundamental constitutional right.
This type of behavior is normal for the course in Dearborn. In 2010, four Christian missionaries were arrested by the DEARBORN police for having taken part of the street of the Arab International Festival and engaging in voluntary participants in a conversation on Christianity.

Admittedly, this anti-American attitude is not unique to Muslim immigrant communities. A part is present among a sector of the Hispanic population. For example
