Cyborg beetles with tiny backpacks could locate survivors in disaster zones

In a revolutionary merger of nature and technology, researchers at the University of Queensland have developed remote -controlled beetles equipped with tiny removable backpacks which could considerably reduce the time necessary to locate survivors in disaster areas.

Also known as Beetles Cyborg, these hybrid aids are part of an ambitious project aimed at improving emergency interventions in situations such as buildings, earthquakes or industrial explosions. These signals stimulate the antennas of the beetle or their hardened antennas, encouraging them to turn, stop or climb.
