ExpressVPN’s latest update makes using its iPhone VPN even easier – here’s all you need to know

ExpressVPN has unveiled improved integration with iOS, adding Siri’s management, widgets, shortcuts and automation.
These new features have been announced on the heels of the new iPhone 17 range, but work on the old versions of iOS as well as iOS 26.
The use of these improved integration features offers greater control over VPN access via ExpressVPN. Above all, they also offer improved automation possibilities, including connection support via a VPN server when certain conditions are met (such as connection to a specific open Wi-Fi).
The new ExpressVPN features are part of the latest update of its iOS application and are intended to make what Techradar criticisms have evaluated as one of the best VPN services on the market even faster to launch and easier to use on iPhone.
They are all already available at the time of writing by simply updating the application to the latest version.
Rather than letting yourself click on the menus to find ExpressVPN, you can now easily connect to the VPN with a Siri voice command or a home screen widget.
It is a 2×2 widget, such as the iPhone clock, and offers a “single turn protection”. This means that you can press the shortcut to connect or disconnect the VPN, which will initiate the last connection you have used. As long as the ExpressVPN application has been updated, the widget can be added in the usual way (press the home screen in the long term, press Modify, then add the widget).
For hands -free confidentiality, the Siri Voice command also reuses your last Expressvpn server. This means that via a simple statement – “Hey Siri, activate ExpressVPN” – The application will restore the connection. This is particularly useful for public Wi-Fi, whether in a cafe, a shopping center or on public transport.

Automations and routines for your ExpressVPN connection
The most intriguing ExpressVPN addition may be the introduction of actions that can be incorporated into automation. The new Apple equipment is Smart Home Aware, and this new feature looks like the first step towards better contextual control on your VPN connection.
Thus, the EXPRESSVPN Upgrade application can manage shortcuts that connect to a specific server at a programmed time. You can also “configure ExpressVPN to activate automatically when you reach the Wi-Fi of a coffee,” said the supplier.

The next Smart Home VPN solution?
ExpressVPN joins a list of competitors, including NordVPN and ProtonVPN, offering more automations for iPhone users. Although the experience is not as flexible or granular as with ExpressVPN.
This means that with this update, ExpressVPN could position itself as a VPN solution at smart home. Since iPhones and Macs are increasingly equipped with Thread Radio, and Apple extends its support for the Smart Home platform (built on interoperability and automation philosophies), it is not difficult to see what Expressvpn aims.
