F1 news: Nico Hülkenberg looking forward to some ‘midfield fights’ after maiden podium

Sunday, the Sauber Nico Hülkenberg pilot celebrated his first Formula 1 podium during his 239th departure in the series, taking third place at the British Grand Prix.
Hülkenberg on Monday was back at the team’s factory in Hinwil, Switzerland, to celebrate the whole team, and Sauber shared a message from the driver to their fans on social networks.
In the message, Hülkenberg noted that even if the podiums may not be offered for him and Sauber every week, he is impatiently awaiting the rest of the season as well as “midfielders”.
“I came to Hinwil to capture the moment and obviously our success yesterday with all factory people,” started Hülkenberg in the video. “And great emotions again, of course. To see everyone here, see happy faces and their emotions, all the work that everyone devotes and contributes is to bear fruit.
“Obviously, we cannot do this every weekend now, but I think we are really good for some midfielders and I look forward to the rest of the season,” added the pilot.
Hülkenberg’s astonishing third place in Silverstone, coming after qualifying in P19 for the British Grand Prix, propelled the team to the sixth row of the manufacturers’ championship ranking. Sauber arrived in Silverstone for the British Grand Prix in place of the ninth, but set up after Hülkenberg put 15 critical points for the team.
Now, he and the rest of the team hope one of these “midfield fights” when the grid returns to action at the Belgian Grand Prix later this month.
