7 Ways Pikmin Bloom Has Improved My Walks

Since installation Pikmin Bloom Over three years ago, I used it almost every day. He has had many positive effects and, for a free application, I think it is an easy victory for many different reasons.

Encouraged me to go out more

Pikmin BloomThe point of sale at the base is to walk. In essence, it’s a bit like the PAS counter that you have probably already installed on your phone. But the icing on the top is the layer of extras linked to the pikmin that accompany serious things.

The Niantic developer is best known for Pokémon GoAn AR mobile game which also promotes physical activity. But Pikmin Bloom makes the aspect of the exercise more explicit; These are more steps first and discover collectibles as a side effect. Even without pikmin hunting, it would be a step counter, with daily records, weekly averages and gratifying messages for having achieved certain objectives.

Gamification helps a lot, however, don’t get me wrong. If I am in danger of missing a particular badge, it is a great incentive to go out and move. Pikmin Bloom Acts as a constant – but soft element – that I should be active as often as possible, for me.

Rewarded me for longer walks

Everyone can play Pikmin BloomWhether you take more than 10,000 steps a day or just talk about going out for a short lunch break. But the game uses several features to encourage longer walks, and I often find myself walking longer than I thought.

While you are walking, you plant virtual flowers that not only brighten up the augmented reality sight of your environment, but you also reward with a currency in the game. These parts help you go up and, as a person who avoids microtransactions, I am not about to spend real money for them.

Longer walks also mean that you will discover more Pikmin to make your auctions. It is the ultimate traction for me; Different Pikmin can have a different decoration decorate them, and it is this collection aspect that puts the game in a genre similar to Pokémon Bloom. I have never really entered the whole Pokémon universe, but Pikmin is undeniably cute and charming:

The game also presents a community day each month, during which you have to walk 10,000 steps in one day to receive a special badge, alongside other small awards.

Almost everything you can do Pikmin Bloom revolves around the number of steps and walking more steps just gives better awards. There are means of min-max the gameplay, but there is no distance from the basic mechanic: the more you walk, the better you will do in the game. I am now, quite consistent, walking 10,000 steps every day, thanks to Pikmin Bloom.

Helped me find the variety

Pikmin Bloom Perhaps all about walking, but these other gameplay features are also important. Flower planting, for example, is something you will need to do to get parts and speed up flower growth.

But there is another meaning in which I moved away outside my comfort zone, and it is in the specific walks that I made. The game rewards you for walking in new areas, increasing the effects of flower planting and assigning you unique discoveries.

The best manifestation of this is perhaps the decor of Pikmin which is, in turn, weird, impressive and hilarious:

The types of decoration are determined by the nearby characteristics. For example, I live near many parks, so I’m ready for Clover Pikmin. But the airport -based Pikmin is much rarer, because I don’t take a flight every two months. I don’t admit any problem here, but I admit that I planned to walk to my nearest airport to finish this specific set!

Made me take more photos

Although I always have my phone with me, I was never great to use it as a camera. I probably take as many photos in a month as many people in a day. But something that encouraged me to take more photos is Pikmin Bloom.

The collectibles you hunt – including sowing to plant, postcards and pikmin themselves – can be accompanied by a photograph that you have taken near their origin. These photographs are attached, they therefore act as a permanent link between the object at stake and the real world.

You can also record photos in a calendar, creating a type of photo journal which not only gives more rewards in play, but also acts as a nice memory in its own right. I sometimes feel a little weird to take random photos in the middle of a walk, but I create memories for free and I am happy to fill some of the whites in my visual file.

Taught me on my region

One of my favorite features of Pikmin Bloom Is the collection of postcards. When you walk in the streets, the game will record various points of interest in your neighborhood. These can then potentially appear in the form of postcards on your card, waiting for a group of Pikmin to be assigned to recovery.

These postcards alone taught me more about my local environment than perhaps something else. I guess I should be more interested in my city: visit my local library and look for the history of the region. But it is much more effective for my Pikmin to do this research for me!

I discovered all kinds of points of interest, from war monuments to historic plates and even a series of Victorian stinking pipes – an artifact which was definitely new for me!

I also appreciate how postcards are made on the map. Although the card itself contains very few details, all the postcards you collect are superimposed. The result is a very different card from your house than the one you are used to, more a precise image collage than an abstract reproduction. I can always use it to navigate, it’s just a very different experience.

Sometimes a better card than Google Maps

When I say that the card contains few details, I mean it does not care about minor problems such as the names of the roads or points of interest. In fact, unless you already know what you are looking at, it barely makes sense as a card: just a collection of anonymous roads with flowery green between the two.

What fascinates me Pikmin BloomThe card is its micro detail. Even if it does not qualify them, it shows each last route and alley, even by treating nuances like separate pedestrian paths. If you walk in an unknown territory, it can be useful; Like any mobile card, Pikmin BloomIt shows your current location because it is so relevant for the game.

I put this at the source of the OpenStreetMap mapping data. Apparently, the game uses this data in conjunction with other sources, but I am sure that precision is due to the incredible level of detail of OSM. It certainly shows some details that Google Maps omits, something that I would never have expected from a card in play!

Gave me something to do while waiting

Like any mobile game, Pikmin Bloom is a great time-time, and it’s really nice at any time at your fingertips. In particular, because I have probably already worked a little every time I expect something, it’s great to kill time in the stations or wait to see a doctor.

The game is also ideal for nourishing a constant supply of things to do. From daily expeditions to team management and connection with other players, there is almost always something to do if I have free time on my hands.

It also extends to walking. Although you can just keep your phone in your pocket and follow your steps, you can also play more actively, engaging with the immediate environment and keeping an eye on Pikmin to pick up.
