When you’re weightless, how do you go to the bathroom? That’s what NASA scientists spent more than $23 million to discover in time for the launch of Artemis II later this week.
They have developed what they call the “universal waste management system”, which allows for both stool and urine, and is designed for both women and men. Artemis II, the first flyby mission to the Moon in more than 50 years, is scheduled to launch on April 1.
Following the unmanned Artemis I mission in 2022, NASA’s Artemis program is preparing for deep space missions, with the ultimate goal of reaching Mars in the 2030s.
