Blackburn Defends Seizure of Venezuelan Oil Tanker: ‘Enforcing Sanctions’

Sen. Marsha Blackburn (R-TN) defended the seizure of a Venezuelan oil tanker, saying President Donald Trump is absolutely right about it and the United States is absolutely right. simply by applying sanctions.

During an episode of Breitbart Daily Newshost Mike Slater asked the gubernatorial candidate about the seizure of the Venezuelan tanker, given the backlash from the left.

“[It was] led by another one of your constituents, our Secretary of War, Pete Hegseth,” Slater said. “Is that okay with you?” …The left is talking about a shocking escalation, or are we just implementing the sanctions we have had since 2015?

“Yes, we apply sanctions,” the Tennessee senator replied. “The president is absolutely right on that, and it’s imperative that we implement these sanctions. Look at what happened in Venezuela. When you look at the way the sanctions weren’t important, weren’t applied to China, weren’t applied to Russia, and Donald Trump says, ‘No, the sanctions are there. It’s the law. We will apply them.”

She said the left has no right to get upset about it, but is essentially used to the Biden administration, which has ignored the law.

“I will say that under Joe Biden’s tenure as president, they worked overtime trying to make American law illegal and circumvent American law, and now you have Donald Trump saying, ‘No, the law is the law. We’re going to enforce it.’ And all of a sudden, they are very upset,” she stressed.
