Nearly 42,000 bottles of hair growth serums have been recalled nationwide, the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission (CPSC) announced on January 15. The items contain minoxidil, a hair loss medication found in products like Rogaine, which must be placed in child-resistant packaging. The recalled products are not child-resistant, “posing a risk of serious injury or death from poisoning if the contents are swallowed by young children,” according to the CPSC. No incidents or injuries have been reported so far.
The recall involves two hair growth serums sold online through Amazon:
RootStim Beard Growth Serum, 5% Minoxidil
- Size: 60 ml (2.0 fluid ounces)
- Packaging: spray bottles in black and orange boxes
- Available from: From November 2024 to September 2025
- Quantity concerned: approximately 16,900

The situation follows another smaller hair growth serum recall in December for approximately 840 bottles of Feel The Beard Minoxidil Men’s Beard Growth Oil. This product was also sold on Amazon, from April to September 2025, and was recalled because its packaging was not child-resistant.

If you own one of the recalled products, keep it out of the sight and reach of children, then contact the seller for a refund and replacement.
