Fantasy Football Week 5 Quarterback Preview: Brock Purdy concerns, plus DFS, streamers, start/sits and more

The wounds of the 49ers of San Francisco simply do not stop. Before week 4, the team was without Brandon Aiyuk and George Kittle, and they had just recovered Brock Purdy and Jauan Jennings. Ricky Pearsall left week 4 with a knee injury, and Jennings was clearly not 100%. The only guy who seemed to be unscathed was Purdy, then he woke up on Monday morning and his toe disturbed him again. The 49ers have a short week and a difficult confrontation against the Rams, and on Tuesday afternoon, we have no idea who they will have.
The fact is that if you just connect Purdy in the projections, things are rather great. Through two games, he has an average of 8.0 yards per pass and a record of 293 yards per game per game. Even with all the injuries, the 49ers were much more effective by passing the ball than to operate the ball, which led Purdy to an average of 36.5 attempts to pass by match. Given its career efficiency is even more scandalous than its efficiency in 2025, which is added to a very high screening for a game that San Francisco could continue the scoring.
The question is whether Purdy can do it without wide receivers. We do not currently project Pearsall or Jennings to play in week 5. This could mean that the first four departure receivers are Kendrick Bourne and Demarcus Robinson. Skyy Moore and Marquez Valdes-Scantling. Even with the story of Purdy and the fact that 43% of his passes on Sunday went to Christian McCaffrey and Jake Tonges, you should probably sit on Purdy if he has not Pearsall or Jennings. If Jennings is able to leave, you can be safe with Purdy as a low -end starter. Kyle Shanahan organized an effective offense with a lot of backups in the past, but it can be a bridge too far for him. At the very least, make sure you have a second option on your bench in the quarter. I have some options in the derogation wire section below.
Let’s move on to the rest of the overview:
Week 5 QB preview
QB preview
Numbers to know
- 17 – Cam Ward was dismissed 17 times a summit of the league. It is difficult to assess it in this environment.
- 7.3 – Patrick Mahomes has an average of 7.3 yards per attempt in the first match of Xavier Worthy. It was the first match all year round that Mahomes had more than seven yards per attempt.
- 29.5 – Dolphins abandon 29.5 FPPG to opposing QBs, the second highest brand in the league. Each QB scored at least 28 points against them. Bryce Young is in place in week 5.
- 5.0% – The 5.0% on-target rate of Sam Darnold is the best in the league. Unfortunately, he only launches 25 assists per game, so it is difficult to trust him in fantasy.
- 13 – Trevor Lawrence had 13 passes in four weeks, most of the league.
- 15 – Drake Maye has 15 scraters, the third most behind Patrick Mahomes and Jalen hurts.
- 1 – Daniel Jones had only one point attempt in week 4. This issue fell every week of the season.
- 106.1 – Matthew Stafford’s passer 106.1 would be a career summit if he kept it all season.
