FDA issues warnings to two importers for compliance failures

As part of its enforcement activities, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) sends warning letters to entities within its jurisdiction. Some letters are not released to the public until weeks or months after they are sent. Business owners have 15 days to respond to FDA warning letters. Warning letters are often only issued when the company has had months or years to correct the problems.

The FDA has issued warning letters to two food companies for significant violations of Foreign Supplier Verification Program (FSVP) regulations. The FSVP rule requires importers to verify that food imported into the United States is produced in a manner that meets applicable U.S. food safety standards.
