The American Senate voted to confirm the former defense lawyer for President Donald Trump, Emil Bove, to a life appointment as a judge on a federal court of appeal.

The Democrats all opposed this decision, two Republicans joined them to vote against Bove by a vote of 50-49 Tuesday evening.

Bove is considered to be the most controversial judicial choice of Trump to date, having defended him in three of the four criminal trials with which he was confronted after having completed his first mandate in 2020.

During his confirmation audiences, Bove, 44, denied that he was “Henchman” from Trump. He also denied the assertions of Whistleblowers according to which he had told the staff to dumb the law and mislead the senators.

Bove will sign at the American Court of Appeal for the 3rd circuit, which oversees the affairs of Delaware, New Jersey and Pennsylvania.

“He has strong legal experience and served his country honorably. I believe that he will be diligent, capable and just juristical,” said republican president of the judicial committee, Chuck Grassley, before the vote.

Lisa Murkowski, from Alaska, and Susan Collins, of Maine, were the two republican senators who sat with the Democrats to oppose Bove’s confirmation.

Dick Durbin, the classification democrat of the judicial committee, said in a statement: “The main qualification of Mr. Bove seems to be his blind loyalty to this president.”

Since Trump returned to office in January, Bove has been the main assistant prosecutor at the United States Ministry of Justice.

Democrats accuse him of supervising mass licensees of prosecutors who were considered insufficiently faithful to Trump.

Two denunciators had accused Bove of having told the subordinates that the judicial orders will thwart Trump’s expulsion efforts could be ignored.

A third denunciator allegedly alleged that Bove had misleaded the senators by discussing his role in the rejection of corruption accusations against the mayor of New York, Eric Adams.

Democrats say the case was abandoned after Adams agreed to cooperate on Trump’s immigration application objectives in the city. Bove denied any reprehensible act.

More than 900 former employees of the Ministry of Justice have signed an open letter calling for the name of Bove.

A group of more than 75 retired and federal judges also wrote to the committee.

They said he was “deeply inappropriate” for a president to appoint his own criminal defense lawyer for a federal judge.

Trump selected several lawyers who were part of his legal defense team to occupy government positions.

Alina Habba was chosen to be the best federal prosecutor in New Jersey, and Todd Blanche is now a deputy prosecutor.
