‘We Can’t Cut Off’ ICE’s Money, DHS Shutdown Is Hurting TSA, FEMA, Coast Guard

On Bloomberg’s “Balance of Power” on Tuesday, Rep. Dina Titus (D-NV) acknowledged that closing DHS hurts TSA, FEMA and the Coast Guard and that “we can’t cut” money for ICE because “they’re defunded.” They can do whatever they want.”
Titus said, “The shutdown really hurts Nevada, if you don’t have the TSA. Our tourism is already negatively affected by this administration, and this is only going to hurt more. And there’s a very simple solution: remove these people, remove FEMA, remove the TSA, remove the Coast Guard, defund them and send them back, and then manage the safeguards that we can put in place…with ICE.”
She continued: “We can’t cut off their money because they got all this money in one big, nice bill. So, they’re funded. They can do whatever they want. They have the 16th largest military budget in the world, but we could put these guardrails in place.”
