Trump announces 30% tariffs against Mexico, EU to begin on Aug. 1

President Trump announced on Saturday that it was 30% tariff against Mexico and the European Union. They should start on August 1.
He announced the prices on two of the largest trade partners in the United States in letters published on this social account of truth.
In his letter to the president of Mexican Claudia Sheinbaum, Trump acknowledged that the country had contributed to stem the flow of undocumented migrants and fentanyl in the United States, but he said that the country had not done enough to prevent North America from turning into “playground for narco-transficking”.
“Mexico helped me get the border, but what Mexico has done, is not enough,” added Trump.
In his letter to the European Union, Trump said that the relationship between the block and the United States was “far from reciprocal” and that the American trade deficit was a threat of national security.
“We have had years to discuss our trade relations with the European Union and have concluded that we have to move away from these long-term, important and persistent trade deficits, generated by your price and non-runner, political and trade barriers,” he wrote.
Mr. Trump is in an advertisement blitz new prices with allies and enemiesA foundation of his campaign in 2024 which, according to him, would put the foundations for the revival of an American economy which, according to him, has been torn by other nations for decades.
With reciprocal prices, Trump effectively explodes the rules governing world trade. For decades, the United States and most other countries respected by price rates take place through a series of complex negotiations known as Round Uruguay. Countries could establish their own prices – but as part of the “most favored” approach, they could not charge a country more than that they loaded another one.
“Our small business partners could become much more important business partners” The director of the National House Council, Kevin Hassett, said “Face The Nation with Margaret Brennan”. “And this is, I think, one of the reasons why the countries run to establish agreements with us before the deadline.”
The European Union commercial negotiator declared earlier this week than a trade agreement to avoid higher prices on European goods imported into the United States could be concluded “even in the coming days”. Maroš Šefčovič told EU legislators in Strasbourg, France on Wednesday in France that the EU had been spared the increased prices contained in the letters that Trump sent on Monday and that an extension of the talks would provide “an additional space to achieve a satisfactory conclusion”.
The block collectively sells more in the United States than any other country. American imports of goods from the EU exceeded $ 553 billion in 2022, according to the office of the American commercial representative.
Ursula von der Leyen, president of the European Commission, recognized Mr. Trump’s letter and said in a press release on Saturday that the taxation of EU exports “would disrupt essential transatlantic supply chains to the detriment of companies, consumers and patients on both sides of the Atlantic”.

“Little savings in the world correspond to the level of opening of the European Union and to membership in fair negotiation practices. The EU has systematically prioritized a negotiated solution with the United States, reflecting our commitment to dialogue, stability and a constructive transatlantic partnership,” she added. “We are ready to continue working on an agreement by August 1. At the same time, we will take all the necessary measures to protect the interests of the EU, including the adoption of proportional countermeasures if necessary.”
Steep prices That Trump announced on April 2, threatened to revise the world economy and lead to broader trade wars. A week later, after The financial markets had panickedIts administration has suspended most of the higher taxes for imports for 90 days as they should take effect, but it maintained the basic line by 10% while increasing the tariff rate on goods imported from China. Chinese products are now subject to 30% prices between the edges. The frost expired on Wednesday.
With the letters on Saturday, Trump has now published pricing conditions on 24 countries and the European Union of 27 members.
