Bluesky adds drafts feature | Mashable

Bluesky added drafts, allowing you to park your messages and think about them properly before jumping into the mess on the main one.
Rolling out starting Monday, Bluesky’s new drafts feature is part of its v1.116 update. This update also includes new welcome screen artwork in Bluesky’s mobile app and allows GIFs to play automatically rather than working the same way as videos. However, the ability to save your draft Bluesky posts for later is by far the biggest change in the new update.
To save a post as a draft on Bluesky, simply edit it as you normally would, then select “Cancel” in the upper left corner. A pop-up will then appear asking if you want to save the message as a draft for later. Alternatively, you can also save a post as a draft by tapping the new “Drafts” button next to the “Publish” button in the top right corner, which will display a similar pop-up asking if you want to save your post before viewing your drafts. If you don’t see the button, check that your app is up to date.
Mashable Trend Report
When you want to view your Bluesky drafts, open the compose window as if you were writing a new message, then press the “Drafts” button. You’ll then see a list of your drafts, which you can tap to resume editing or delete as you wish.
Drafts is a feature that Bluesky users have been asking for for some time, with competitors X and Threads already having it available. Bluesky previously acknowledged that it was still missing basic features like drafts in a January blog post about its future plans, indicating that it was working to resolve the issue. The post also lists faster video uploads, longer clips, and allowing more than four photos in a post among other updates it aims to address this year.
Even so, Bluesky’s relatively slow implementation of core features does not appear to have been fatal to its growth. Its recent transparency report indicates that Bluesky’s user base grew significantly in 2025, growing from almost 25 million to 41 million in the past year.
