Journalism, running for the first time against older horses, ran to a valiant second place in the Pacific Classic of $ 1 million in Del on Saturday. The winner was Fierciness, a winner of several issues that was the favorite of the post-time in Kentucky Derby and the Breeders’ Cup class last year.

The race has lost a lot of chandelier when Nysos, the favorite of the morning line 8-5, scored the race with a bruise in its right neighborhood outdoors. This is not a serious problem and Nysos can be highlighted at the Goodwood Stakes on September 27 in Santa Anita, coach Bob Babuffe told Horse Racing Nation.

Journalism, winner of the Preakness Stakes and second in the Kentucky Derby and Belmont Stakes, did not finish the exacta this year in seven departures. During his last departure, he won the Haskell Stakes to Monmouth Park and obtained a free entry to the Breeders classic ‘CUP of $ 7 million on November 1 in Del Mar.

The ferocity, which paid $ 5.20 to win, slowly separated from the only post and tilted towards a temporary rail before punctuating itself in the race of 1¼ mile. Jockey John Velazquez took it in the middle of the back, but saw a seam between horses in the extreme turn and took the lead to gain about three lengths. Todd Plotcher was the winning coach.

Ultimate Gamble, at 71-1, finished third.

Journalism broke well but then wins through the frontrasse and around. He started to make up for himself on his back but had too much work to do against a higher ferocity.

“Very proud of the horse,” said Aron Wellman, managing manner of the owner Eclipse Poroughbreds. “He presents himself every time. It’s just remarkable to see the effort he makes us.

“I do not think that we wanted to be so far back, but he just got a little where he takes a little so that his stride continues. But no excuse, he was five years old, six lengths from that going to the pole of half a mile with fast fractions in front of him.”
