The money collected by Hollywood for the victims of Los Angeles fires via Fireaid went to political groups like the California original voting project – and a body of state volunteers managed by the office of Governor Gavin Newsom.

The Fireaid concert, on January 30, presented a starry program in two separate stadiums and collected some $ 100 million in public donations, ostensibly to help the victims of the Eaton palisades and fires.

As Breitbart News reported it on Sunday, there is a controversy as to whether the money is spent properly. On the one hand, as reported by the local affiliate ABC Kabc-7, the money is in fact spent by organizations that received it. On the other, none of the money goes directly to fire victims, but only to non -profit groups. The fire victims who benefited from the Fireaid funds only indirectly done through organizations.

Now, the local point of sale surrounding the reports, it is clear that some of the groups which have received Fireaid funding have only tenuous connections, at best, to the areas affected by fires – and tangential missions.

A group that has received funding in the Native California Voting Project, a political non -profit organization that exists to encourage Amerindians to participate in the political process. The Fireaid website reports that money was intended for “[f]Inaneal assistance for displaced and affected indigenous families, enlarged healing and mental health services and the distribution of critical health and safety resources. »»

According to census data, 16 Amerindian residents of Pacific Palisades, out of nearly 23,000 people. There were a little more Amerindians in Altadena, affected by the late Eaton: 46 out of approximately 43,000 inhabitants.

California’s native voting project is officially not supporter, but its political ideology is radical. He boasts of his success in the abolition of the statues of Christopher Columbus, and he opposes the application of the Federal Immigration Act, standing with the “undocumented” population against immigration and the application of customs.

Another recipient is a group called Calvolunteers – which, which goes around the newspaper, is an organization managed by the State. The group is actually short of the Governor Governor’s office (D) and is supposed to be funded by taxpayers.

The Fireaid website indicates that Calvoluanteers has received funding for “[s]Increased training and allowances for volunteers working on navigation services on services and sanitation of forest fires. It is not clear why this money came from donors and not from the state of California itself.

Some groups are worthy causes. One, the reaction of the change, used its own funds to provide financial reductions directly to households.

Other groups seem less worthy. Instituto de Educatcion Popular del on California (IDEPSCA), for example, received a subsidy to support “the displaced workers affected by fires”, but its mission is “to organize and educate immigrants anxious to solve problems in their own communities”.
