First Alert: A winter storm will impact central North Carolina on Monday in the form of light snow. Winter weather advisories are in effect in many counties from 7 a.m. Monday to noon Tuesday. Accumulating snow could lead to slippery road conditions, particularly along the NC/VA border.

A dense fog advisory is in effect across central North Carolina tonight until 8 a.m. Monday. Reduced visibility could impact your travel Monday morning. Use extreme caution if you travel.

An arctic front arrives Monday and it contains enough moisture to bring light rain that turns to snow. Minor accumulations are possible, mainly along and north of I-40. Maybe as much as an inch north of the Triangle. The highest amounts, up to 2″, are expected along the NC/VA border. Perhaps up to an inch north of the Triangle.

Black ice could be a problem Monday night into Tuesday for any areas where moisture persists as lows will drop below freezing. Tuesday morning temperatures will be in the 20s and teens.

Warmer conditions and more cloud cover are expected Wednesday and Thursday. An Arctic front arrives at the end of the week. Highs for next weekend will be around 40 degrees.
