It’s a healthy sign when consumers have the ear of a company that wants their ears. Marshall heard from the market that there was a desire for ultra-portable over-ear headphones with active noise cancellation, and the end product is the new Milton ANC. It brings familiar design language and flagship flourishes into what was typically a less feature-rich form factor. Until now.

At $229.99, the Milton ANC is positioned between the Major V and Monitor III ANC [literally in one of the pictures below]. It adopts the textured surface, brass logo, multi-directional control knob and customizable M button of the Monitor III ANC (to toggle ANC/Transparency mode, cycle through EQ settings, or jump directly to a Spotify playlist, etc.). But it does so in a foldable format similar in size to the Major V. That’s where the similarities with the Major V end, however. The construction and integrated technology have much more in common with the big brother.
Larger, removable and replaceable ear cushions with softer memory foam improve comfort and passive noise attenuation. Combined with six conveniently placed microphones and a next-generation adaptive algorithm that adjusts noise cancellation in real time, the Milton ANC blocks noisy environments so you can get the most out of the new custom driver system, certified Hi-Res Audio. This means it can deliver a frequency range of 20Hz to 40kHz and handle sources up to 24-bit/96kHz. To achieve this, Milton ANC offers Bluetooth 6.0 with LE-Audio and supports not only SBC, AAC and LC3, but also LDAC with a compatible source. Adaptive Loudness ensures that the Marshall sound signature is clearly expressed when ambient intrusions increase, and the exclusive spatialization processing, based on the “True Stereophonic” spatial sound of Marshall Bluetooth speakers, expands the soundstage.
Rounding out the package is a replaceable battery capable of 80 hours of wireless playback without ANC and over 50 hours with ANC. We’ll share more thoughts on listening and longevity once we’ve spent some time with a pair.
Milton ANC is available for purchase now at marshall.com and will be available at select retailers on May 27.
