President Donald Trump welcomed Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman, Saudi Arabia’s de facto leader, to the White House for the first time since the CIA concluded that the crown prince approved the 2018 killing of Washington Post journalist Jamal Khashoggi. In a tense Oval Office exchange with reporters, the president defended bin Salman saying the prince “knew nothing” about the murder. NBC’s Peter Alexander reports for TODAY.
