The Denver Broncos have had an incredible 2025 season, and one of the biggest reasons is that the defense continues to be one of the best units in the league.

Although they are not as good as the Seattle Seahawks or Houston Texans, the Broncos defense can still shut down opposing teams like the best in the league.
John Franklin-Myers is a big reason why this defense has been so good in 2025. After a strong 2024, there was speculation about a trade. But he stayed in Denver until 2025, and now, in free agency, The Ringer’s Austin Gayle predicts he’ll land a big contract.
John Franklin-Myers is expected to sign a new contract worth more than $15 million per year.
“Franklin-Myers deserves to get paid this offseason,” Gayle wrote. “He’s currently not among the top 40 interior defensive linemen in terms of average annual salary (AAV), at just $7.5 million; that’s expected to more than double with a new deal in 2026.”

With Franklin-Myers being one of the best defensive linemen in the NFL over the past two seasons, his future, despite being 29 years old, is expected to involve a major new contract worth at least $15 million per year.
He started 15 games for Denver in 2025 and recorded 7.5 sacks, 25 total tackles, six tackles for loss, 15 quarterback hits and 23 pressures entering Week 18.

This is the second straight season with at least seven sacks for Franklin-Myers, as his 2024 season was also very productive for Denver.

But now the 29-year-old lineman, formerly of the Los Angeles Rams and New York Jets, is expected to land a huge new contract this offseason.
Gayle projects the deal to be worth at least $15 million per year, double his current salary of $7.5 million in 2025. Even though the Broncos might have trouble keeping him, Franklin-Myers has, at the very least, budgeted for a huge salary after the 2025 season.
