Former NYC Mayor Eric Adams Blasts Kamala Harris’s Maduro Hypocrisy: ‘Cynical and Irresponsible’

Former New York Mayor Eric Adams has called out former Vice President Kamala Harris’ hypocritical response to the capture of Venezuelan dictator Nicolás Maduro, calling her response “cynical and irresponsible.”
Harris issued a statement Saturday evening disparaging President Donald Trump after U.S. troops carried out an early morning operation. assignment in Caracas, the capital of the South American country.
“Donald Trump’s actions in Venezuela do not make America safer, stronger, or more affordable,” she wrote on
“The American people don’t want this and they’re tired of being lied to,” Harris added. “It’s not about drugs and it’s not about democracy. It’s about oil and Donald Trump’s willingness to play the role of regional strongman. If he cared about either, he wouldn’t pardon a convicted drug trafficker or sideline Venezuela’s legitimate opposition while pursuing deals with Maduro’s friends.”
Harris’ statement went on to say that Trump put U.S. troops in danger, wasted money and illegally destabilized Venezuela, with “no exit plan and no benefit to the country.”
“America needs leadership whose priorities are lowering costs for working families, upholding the rule of law, strengthening alliances, and – most importantly – putting the American people first,” she concluded.
Adams responded to the former vice president’s message Sunday morning, noting that the Biden-Harris administration had increased the bounty placed on Maduro for information leading to his arrest or conviction to $25 million on January 10, 2025.
The previous bounty was $15 million, set by the first Trump administration. The current Trump administration increased it to $50 million before Maduro was finally captured.
“Public safety is not a political game,” Adams wrote. “You don’t call someone a narco-dictator one year and pretend they’re no longer a threat the next just because another president is in power. That’s cynical and irresponsible.”
“Maduro’s drugs have killed thousands of Americans and continue to put our children in danger,” he continued. “Imagine being the parents of 2-year-old Nicholas Feliz Dominici, who died of fentanyl poisoning at a Bronx daycare, and watching this political theater.”
In September 2023, Dominici ingested the deadly drug under the care of Grei Mendez, a daycare owner who pleaded guilty to federal charges after police discovered a brick of fentanyl stored on children’s play mats.
“America is safer today because Maduro is no longer in power. Welcome to New York, Nicolas,” Adams concluded.
Maduro is expected is scheduled to appear in New York’s Southern District Court on Monday, facing multiple narcoterrorism, drug and weapons charges, according to NewsNation.
