Top FEMA Official Doubles Down on Claim He Teleported to Waffle House
On Truth Social late last month, Phillips wrote“I know what I’ve been through, I know who I serve.” Responding to another detractor, Phillips job“I have no regrets for my words or my faith in my Savior, Jesus Christ. The Bible contains many examples of the power of God.” In yet another jobPhillips cited a passage from the book of Acts of the New Testament where the Holy Spirit “ripped” the apostle Philip after a baptism on a road between Jerusalem and Gaza, and Philip is then describe as appearing in the city of Azotus, miles away.
On a podcast in January 2025, Phillips said of the Waffle House experience, “I was with my boys one time, and I was telling them I was going to go to Waffle House and buy Waffle House. And I ended up in a Waffle House – it was in Georgia, and I end up in a Waffle House about 50 miles from where I was.”
Phillips’ job at FEMA carries many responsibilities, handling emergency assistance, infrastructure restoration, search and rescue operations and the distribution of billions of dollars in disaster aid. At least one senior agency official praised his efforts, call he was “FEMA’s best hope right now” when he was hired in December.
