Here are our initial thoughts on the breakdown and total for this week’s game. We’ll have a full preview of the game (with a best bet and SGP) later in the week.
First spread pick Mississippi vs. Oklahoma: Oklahoma -4.5

There may not be a team with a tougher roster to come home to than the Oklahoma Sooners, as the Mississippi Rebels will be the first of five straight Top 20 opponents to close out the campaign.
Fortunately, Oklahoma’s defense can rise to the challenge.
The Sooners rank first in the SEC in scoring defense, allowing just nine points per game over seven contests.
OU is allowing just 80.4 rushing yards per game and two total touchdowns, while giving up just 132.6 yards through the air and a measly three touchdown passes.
This is where the game will likely be won and lost, as the Rebels boast one of the best passing attacks in the country, throwing for 304.1 yards per game (second in the SEC).
Even in their only loss of the year, last week against Georgia, they scored 35 points.
Oklahoma probably doesn’t want to get into a shootout because its offense isn’t built to keep scoring points. He ranks in the Top 40 in passing with 249.7 yards per game, but just 110th in rushing.
Mississippi, however, struggles to defend the run, allowing 4.7 yards per pop and 166.7 yards per game.
The one time the Rebels needed their offense to gain momentum, they made just two field goals and allowed the unranked Texas Longhorns to beat them 23-6.
The Sooners are off to a fast start, opening the scoring in all seven of their games this season, including five with touchdowns. If they manage to get ahead, they should impose their defensive will to cover themselves.
Mississippi Early Total Pick vs. Oklahoma: Under 52.5
-110 at FanDuel
Texas is the only opponent to break 20 points against OU, so I want to stay on trend and win the Under.
The Sooners have not combined with their opponent to score 50 points in any game, which includes holding Michigan to 13 points and Auburn to 17.
Mississippi is by far the most potent offense the Sooners will have faced this year, but there is at least some film on how to potentially contain them.
No. 4 LSU held the Rebels to their lowest score of the season in a 24-19 loss, then lowly Washington State held them to the same number the following week, before the loss at Georgia.
Mississippi has gone under in three of the last four games, while OU is a perfect 6-0-0.
