Francisco Lindor finally gets to represent Mets in All-Star Game

After four years of slow departures and strange snobs, Francisco Lindor was finally chosen to represent the dishes during the MLB star match.

Lindor was appointed on Wednesday at the national league departure stop, being appointed to his fifth star team and becoming the first stop of the food to start the middle of the summer since Jose Reyes in 2011.

Manager Carlos Mendoza delivered the news to the team leader between the matches of a double head against the Brewers of Milwaukee. Lindor then called his wife, sister, mother and father to broadcast the news.

The star match will be held on July 15 at the Trist park in Atlanta.

“It’s a real honor,” said Lindor. “I am honored and proud to be able to take the ground in Atlanta as a MET. I can’t wait to do so. There are many good people in this organization, and to be able to represent them, I do it with great pride and the greatest respect. ”

He thanked the fans for having voted for him and having broken his four-summer sequence without star appearance (the game was canceled in 2020 due to the Covid-19 pandemic), although he played well enough to win the head sign in three of these four years. The last time Lindor was invited to the middle of the middle of the summer, he was a 25 -year -old with Cleveland. Now at 31, Lindor is in his fifth season with the food, having been negotiated in 2021. He was in the fourth year of a 10-year and $ 341 contract, he got married and had three children with his wife, Katia, and became a key team leader in the Mets clubhouse.

The Lindor star has regularly increased since his arrival in New York, which is typical of an elite player on the largest baseball market. This is why his omission of the last All-Star games confused the dishes. Usually, players become more popular when they move to larger markets, no less.

“It’s really difficult here – we have already talked about it – to have the numbers from the start to justify the selection of stars from the rest of the guys and the bases of fans,” said Voltier Brandon Nimmo. “I think he did an incredible job and was able to fight through Cold April and May and get these figures in a good place. So happy for him, and I know he will represent us well. ”

In 2023 and 2024, Lindor was just as cold that Citi Field tended to be at the start of the season. He had returned it well before the finalization of stars’ ballots, but has still not been selected, even when another Second stop was injured shortly before the match in 2023.

This year, Lindor started hot, slowing only recently in June. His ops was almost 0.900 in May, and he struck 12 circuits in the first two months of the season, and he currently compiled the war of 3.0, the 11th higher of the NL.

Defensive elite judgment with 5 OAA, tied to the fifth best among all qualified shortcrust stops, Lindor has played 84 games in position this season and in 85 of the 86 regular season games. Wednesday evening against Milwaukee, he struck the second and entered the match as DH, both first for the season. Although it did not bother to strike second, he was not a fan of sitting on the defensive.

“It’s weird not to play the stop stop,” he said. “At one point, I wanted to do a few swings, and I said to myself:” I don’t know, I do not usually swing when I play the stop stop, so why should I do swings? ” I just made some pre-pics and I ran side by side as if I attracted some bullets on the ground, and I launched weighted bullets inside.

Lindor tried to convince Mendoza to let him play at the Copstist in the two games of a double, but he played through a small pink toe all month after being struck by a field in Los Angeles. The manager wanted to give him a partial break.

The toe will prevent Lindor from participating in the home run derby.

“I can’t,” he said. “Right now, I can’t. It’s not intelligent. I have a broken toe, I don’t think it would be intelligent to swing as hard as possible. But one day, I would certainly do it. I think it would be a cool experience. I would probably go there and I would reach a bunch of line readers.”

The first goal player Pete Alonso is close to the team to make the star team for the fifth time and will probably be committed to playing again in Home Run Derby. The Slugger is organizing an out -of -competition season, leading the league in games played (87) and double (24), with the second home runs of the team (18) and the highest Ops (.921).

The League considers Alonso as one of the best ambassadors in the derby, and Alonso said that he would participate each time he asked. Winning twice from the event, his gains are headed for various initiatives at its Alonso foundation.

ESPN will reveal the rest of the lists on Sunday at 5 p.m. he. The dishes expect to have a strong presence in the enemy territory.
