French first lady appeals in gender rumours case: lawyer
The first lady of France brought her business against two women for allegations that she was the man at the highest court of appeal after a lower court left them, said her lawyer on Monday.
On Thursday, the Paris Court of Appeal canceled convictions earlier against the two women for having distributed false complaints – which has become viral online – that Brigitte Macron, 72, was a man.
Disinformation on the kind of Macron has circulated on social networks for years. His age of 24 with President Emmanuel Macron also attracted a lot of comments.
Brigitte Macron filed a defamation complaint against the two women after having published a YouTube video in December 2021, alleging that she had been a man by the name of Jean -Michel Trogenine – who is Brigitte Macron’s brother.
In the video, the defendant Amandine Roy, an self -proclaimed spiritual medium, interviewed Natacha Rey, an self -proclaimed independent journalist, for four hours on her YouTube channel.
Rey spoke of the “state lie” and the “scam” which she claimed to have discovered that Jean-Michel Trognin had changed gender to become Brigitte, then married the future president.
The complaint has become viral, including among conspiracy theorists in the United States.
A lower court in September of last year had ordered the two women to pay 8,000 euros ($ 9,400) in damages to Brigitte Macron and 5,000 euros to her brother.
Brigitte Macron’s lawyer, Jean Ennochi, told AFP on Sunday that his brother also brought his file against the rejection of the accusations to the highest court of appeal, the Casation Court.
