Frozen Spinach Recalled Nationwide for Listeria Risk

Frozen spinach recalled nationwide due to potential Listeria contamination, the Food and Drug Administration (FDA) announced on Tuesday.

Sno Pac Foods voluntarily recalled spinach after a batch tested positive for the bacteria, which can cause serious foodborne illness.

Look for the following products in your freezer now.

The affected spinach was packaged in two products:

Del Mar Organic Frozen Spinach 35 lb Bulk

  • Lot codes: 250107A, 250107B, 250107C, 250107D, 2501071 and 2501073
  • Expiry date: 1/1/27

Sno Pac 10 oz Organic Frozen Cut Spinach

  • Codes and expiration dates: SPM1.190.5 with an expiration date of 7/9/27; SPC1.160.5 with best before 06/9/27; SPC2.160.5 best before 06/9/27; and SPM1.097.5 with a best by 4/7/27

The products were shipped to distributors and retailers across the country.

According to the FDA, a case of bulk spinach from Sno Pac Foods’ supplier tested positive for Listeria, and the same spinach was used in the 10 oz. packages.

While Listeria Infections are relatively rare, but it is one of the deadliest pathogens that cause foodborne illness, especially in young children, the frail or elderly, and others with weakened immune systems.

To date, no illnesses have been reported in connection with the recall.

Look for recalled spinach in your freezer and throw it away or return it.

If you think you have eaten contaminated spinach, watch for symptoms of Listeriaincluding:

  • High fever
  • Severe headache
  • Rigidity
  • Nausea
  • Abdominal pain
  • Diarrhea
