The California state legislature faces a deadline on Friday to approve the November elections proposed by Democratic Governor Gavin Newsom to Gerrymander the State and add to five seats in the additional Democratic Chamber – while counties rush to guarantee taxpayer funds for the voting initiative.

Newsom, who announced the measure nicknamed the “law on the response of the elections” at a press conference on August 14, said on several occasions that the state will cover the costs that the counties would continue. However, California counties express concerns that they could end up waiting after the elections for the reimbursement of the State. County leaders have discussed the abolition of taxpayers’ financing from sheriff departments, county prisons and forest fire prevention in order to bring the steep invoices that the newsom elections will bring, calmatters reported.

“Additional expenses linked to a special state election would almost entirely fully be on the counties – imposing a significant and not funded financial burden on the already tense local budgets,” the California State Association of Counties wrote in a letter of August 14 to the Governor and the Legislature of the Democratic State.

The California Ministry of Finance has not yet determined how much money it will offer to the counties to cover the cost of elections, but a spokesperson for the department said that the legislation currently envisaged in Sacramento will in advance the financing of the counties, according to Calmatters.

In response to the lack of information from the ministry, the Republican Caucus of the Californian Assembly has published its estimate of the quantity of special elections would cost taxpayers, noting that the Gerrymandering vote could earn a price of up 235.5 million dollars. The CAUCUS du GOP has based their information on the reminder elections of Governor of California 2021, which cost taxpayers for 200 million dollars, but have taken into account factors such as inflation, shipping costs and an increase in the recording of voters in their analysis.

However, because the Californians spent months gathering enough signatures to trigger governor’s recall, the state had much more time to prepare for the elections and was able to send counties in advance. Newsom, whose Berrymanderd card was published on Friday, is still waiting for the state’s legislature to approve the language of the time ballot for elections in about two and a half months.

The counties face a shortened calendar not only to obtain funding, but also machines, the ballot and envelopes, printers, sellers, voting places and volunteers. Certain counties like Orange have already started to plan the elections, his registrar of voters citing the concerns that county supplies do not arrive in time if they await official confirmation of the state of the elections. The county – the third more populated in the state – is considering a 12 million dollars note for the next elections. Even if the special elections take place as Newsom provides, it can always end up turning on him and the legislature dominated by the State. A survey published on August 14 has shown that only 36% of Californians support the legislature which resumes control of the state of the state of its current committee.

Newsom announced the “law on the response to electoral fuel” in response to the legislature controlled by the GOP of Texas, writing a proposed chamber card which would likely lead to Republicans to win five seats held by Democrats in the Star State alone. Unlike California, Texas does not require a voting initiative for rediscovering mid-December from Greenlight by state legislature.

The Newsom office did not respond to the request for comments from the Appeal Daily Call Foundation, and the California Department of Finance could not be joined to comment.
