George Mason University Engaged in Discriminatory DEI Hiring

The Ministry of Education announced on Friday that the George Mason (GMU) University would have violated the law of civil rights by “illegally using the race and other immutable characteristics in university practices and policies, including hiring and promotion”.
The Office of the Department of Civil Rights (OCR) opened an investigation into GMU in July after having received complaints from several professors alleging that university management adopted DEI policies in 2020 to present preferential treatment to potential and current teachers of “under-represented groups” to advance “anti-racism”, said the ministry in a press release.
The Ministry of Education has cited the statements of President GMU Gregory Washington and school policies that seem to show support for racial preference. The department allegedly alleged that a high -level school administrator told OCR that Washington “had created an atmosphere of surveillance concerning the hiring decisions of the university concerning Dei’s objectives”.
“In 2020, the president of the University Gregory Washington called for the abolition of the so-called” racist vestiges “of the GMU campus. Without a suspicion of self-conscience, President Washington then carried out a campaign on the scale of the university to implement this illegal DEI declaration for CRIMIM CIVIC Rights on the basis of the race.
“Despite this unfortunate chapter in the history of Mason, the university now has the possibility of complying with federal civil rights laws by concluding a resolution agreement with the civil rights office,” continued Tranor. “Over the past seven months, this is clear: the Ministry of Education of Trump -McMahon will not allow racial exclusion practices – which violate civil rights law, the equal protection clause and the Supreme Court – to continue to correct the educational establishments of our country.”
The OCR gives ten GMU days to voluntarily resolve the alleged violations. As part of the resolution agreement proposed by the OCR, the ministry forces the president of GMU to apologize personally to the school community for the promotion of DEI policies.
The Ministry of Education noted that the title VI prohibits discrimination based on race, color and national origin as a condition for receipt of federal financing.
