The circumglobal teleconnection (CGT) pattern is a key mode of atmospheric variability during the boreal summer, identified by an upper tropospheric wave train propagating along the subtropical jet. CGT is one of the main factors responsible for heat waves in the mid-latitudes of the Northern Hemisphere. However, how the CGT structure responds to global warming and its effect on future heatwave characteristics remains inconclusive.
