Washington (AP) – The former girlfriend of Jeffrey Epstein, Ghislaine Maxwell, was transferred from a federal prison in Florida to a prison camp in Texas, because his criminal affair generates renewed public attention.

The federal prisons office said on Friday that Maxwell had been transferred to Bryan, Texas, but did not explain the circumstances. His lawyer confirmed this decision but also refused to discuss the reasons.

Maxwell was sentenced in 2021 for helping Epstein sexually abusing minor girls and was sentenced to 20 years in prison. She had been detained in a low -security prison in Tallahassee, Florida, until her transfer to the prison camp in Texas, where other detainees include the founder of Theranos Elizabeth Holmes and Jen Shah of “The Real Housewives of Salt Lake City”.

Detainees of federal prisoners at minimal security The prison office considers the lowest safety risk. Some have not even fences.

The prison camps were originally designed with low security to facilitate operations and allow prisoners responsible for carrying out work in prison, such as landscaping and maintenance, to avoid recording it several times in a main prison establishment.

Maxwell’s case has been the subject of increased public orientation since an outcry on the Declaration of the Ministry of Justice last month, saying that he would not publish any additional document in the Epstein sex traffic survey.

Since then, administration officials have attempted to get involved as promoting transparency in the case, in particular by asking the courts to disappoint the Grand Jury.

Maxwell was interviewed in a Florida courthouse for two days last week by the TOUR-TODD BLANC sub-procureur.

The Chamber’s supervisory committee said separately that he wanted to speak with Maxwell. Her lawyers said this week that she would be open to an interview, but only if the panel had to give him immunity against the proceedings for everything she said.

The writer Associated Press Michael Balsamo contributed to this report.
