Gina Carano reaches settlement with Disney, Lucasfilm over ‘Mandalorian’ firing

Disney and Lucasfilm declared that they had settled a trial with actor Gina Carano, who had pursued them last year by alleging that she was wrongly interrupted by the “Mandalorian” in 2021.
Carano brought a legal action before the Federal Court in California in February 2024, alleging that she had been dismissed from her role in the program for having expressed right -wing opinions on social networks and claiming that she has undergone emotional damage and lost millions of income after the cessation. She asked for a court order which would oblige Lucasfilm to reintegrate it or compensate for at least $ 75,000.
The terms of the regulation were not immediately clear. The Lucasfilm press release said that the agreement “would solve the problems in its current trial against companies”.
“Ms. Carano was always very respected by her directors, co-stars and staff, and she worked hard to perfect her job while treating her colleagues with kindness and respect,” said Lucasfilm. “With this trial concluded, we are impatient to identify the opportunities to work with Ms. Carano in the near future.”
Carano also announced the settlement in a press release via his agent, saying that the agreement “is the best result for all the parties involved”.
“I am delighted to return the page and go to the next chapter. My desires remain in the arts, where I hope you join,” she said.
She thanked Elon Musk, whom she called “a man I have never met, who did this good act of Samaritan for me in the financing of my trial.”
When the prosecution was filed, Carano confirmed that Musk and X would provide financial support for this, according to a promise of previous musk to pay the legal bill for all X users who said that they had been discriminated against because of their activity on the social media platform.
Musk did not immediately respond to a request for comments on the payment.
Carano, in the past, posted on social media comparing modern political divisions to the holocaust and mocking people who wore masks during the pandemic. She also seemed to suggest that there was electoral fraud during the 2016 presidential election. There was no evidence of generalized fraud.
She said in the trial that male colleagues who made similar comments were not held to the same standards.
