Republicans Who Cross Trump Rarely Survive — Will The Epstein Truthers?

Four The Republicans’ decision to support the “Transparency Act of Epstein files” against the wishes of President Donald Trump could reshape their political future.
The four Republicans who signed an exit petition to advance the bill, the representatives Thomas Massie of Kentucky, Marjorie Taylor Greene de Georgie, Anna Paulina Luna de Florida and Nancy Mace de Caroline du Sud, are joined by 213 Democrats. The four have resisted the high -level political challenges in the past, but the history for the Republicans who believe Trump are not good.
The White House warned that the support of the petition will be considered “as a very hostile act”. Trump, on the other hand, has repeatedly rejected the outcry surrounding the sexual offender sentenced late as a “hoax” motivated by the Democrats for political purposes.
The Daily Caller spoke with familiar consultants with the next races in 2026 of the four GOP members to assess how the signing of the resolution – and the break with Trump – could influence the environment. Consultants have requested anonymity in order to be able to speak frankly about the elections.

A familiar consultant with the Massie breed argued that the Congress member has long been a thorn to the Trump team and the Republican Party. Massie’s recent aggressive push to disclose Epstein files will probably have no significant impact on the desire that some Republicans have already replaced it, said the consultant.
“I started making Washington calls asking:” How can we get Massie from the office? ” 20 minutes after voting against [Mike] Johnson for the president in January. It has been a long time since a long time ago, “said the consultant about the longtime republican frustration of Massie.
The resolution of Epstein is “more a symptom than a cause”, of opposition to Massie, he explained, stressing a “Trump Super PAC having already spent $ 1.82 million of negative announcements against Massie” after his opposition to the current management of the GOP.
The District of Massie, located in northern Kentucky and the border of Virginia-Western and Ohio, was described as a geographically “bizarre” mixture of voters, including expanses of “libertarians, radically conservative Catholics which reject the Vatican, [and] Your traditional republicans, ”according to the consultant.
The district has historically low the participation rate and Massie has survived several main challenges in the past despite the heads with the president, which potentially makes more difficult for republican activists and the consultants aligned by Trump.
Massie told the daily life that he was not worried about the political return. “Even if the president no longer supports the publication of Epstein files, his district voters want to see the files released massively,” he said. “In this case, there is no political drawback. When the vote occurs, I hope that more members will follow the will of their voters and ask the victims justice. ”
Greene, on the contrary, positioned itself as an ally of Trump Top while expressing a strong support for the publication of Epstein files. She signed the Liberation petition and attended the September 3 press conference on Capitol Hill, where alleged victims of Epstein pleaded for disclosure. A familiar consultant with Greene’s race noted that there does not seem to be a clear main message against Greene. Even if we existed, “it would have to be on another problem and there would be a real Trump imprint.”
The consultant also suggested that Trump was not inclined to continue her because “I think there is a real friendship there and mutual admiration”.
Republicans representations Thomas Massie of Kentucky and Marjorie Taylor Greene de Georgie speaking to the “Epstein Files Transparency Act” Pressher on September 3, 2025.
The consultant noted that although Greene could sometimes appear in contradiction with the president, his global position with the Trump administration has remained coherent, leaving little political incentive to attacks. The consultant described Greene as “easy to engage” and also underlined the “gravity with which she takes constituent work”.
Another consultant echoes this point of view, calling Greene “fairly popular” with her base and stressing that a main challenger would find it difficult to win attacks in the next race. The signature of the discharge position also cements the idea that Greene goes “against the grain”. (Related: The winner of the Special Democrat elections could force the house to resume the Epstein discharge petition))
“It links directly to all his personality, and the people who love him,” said the consultant.
A spokesperson for Greene said she was not going back from the problem. “The Greene representative does not leave the exit petition. Supporting Epstein victims, regardless of politics, is the right thing to do. ”
Cutting against the grain in a way that aligns on its base can be a key factor protecting the four against the major consequences. Trump has served the GOP of many moderate and ancient republicans that his main supporters hated, from Liz Cheney to Jeff Flake.
The fact that so many Trump supporters deeply care about Epstein files differentiate the current moment of a situation such as the voting for the indictment of Trump, who painted a target in the back of the Republicans who did it.
A former agent of the familiar GOP with the ex-representative. Tom Rice, who voted to dismiss Trump, noted that the GOP legislators who connected to the Epstein petition were also “very aligned” with Trump and “perhaps more Mag than Trump does on some of these things”. (Related: Kash Patel says that there is “no credible evidence”, Epstein has treated women to anyone on himself)
An agent of the GOP who worked with the former representative Anthony Gonzalez – who voted to dismiss Trump in 2021 – noted that the Republicans had a stronger majority when the accusation vote occurred, which facilitated safe seats with main challenges. Now, with “How small is the majority … You have to keep everyone together, “said the republican reflection operator on Epstein’s issue.
The call for the publication of Epstein files can also be considered these four Republicans “stick to their weapons”, since Trump and his leaders of the administration calling for liberation on the campaign trial. Alternatively, to vote to dismiss the president is a more direct attack on the party.
“IYou do not reflect the same thing and … in this situation too, I do not think that it necessarily goes against the president, you know, why these members do, “added the operator.
Jake Hoffman, executive director of the young Republicans of Tampa Bay, weighed on the easy path path that Luna seems to have a before in 2026, noting: “I do not even know who is her opponent and I am quite involved. It is really a safe seat.”
Mace, who is currently presenting himself as a candidate for the post of Governor in South Carolina, is unique. If she lost the governor’s primary, she would have missed the deadline for deposit to present herself to her re -election for her registered office.
Although it is not prohibited under federal law, the SC § 7-11-10 code requires that a candidate be eligible for a specific office and forbidden to qualify for more than one office during the same election.
In addition, all the funds collected by the MACE governors’ campaign could not be transferred to an offer from the Congress under the Code SC § 8-13-1350 and 11 CFR § 300.61–300.62.
A familiar consultant with MACE’s race said that Epstein’s exit petition will probably not affect it anyway, as it often acts independently and should not receive support from the governor.
“She has declared in the past in private … that if she does not get the approval of Trump, she will not run,” recalls the consultant. “I think she received the message that Trump approves no one soon and sort of stopped with this subject of discussion.”

An exit petition, a rare and rarely successful tactic, gives legislators a way to circumvent leadership and force a floor vote if a petition brings together 218 signatures – a simple majority of the chamber. GOP managers worked to block the effort, insisting that the investigation of the chamber’s surveillance committee on Jeffrey Epstein will provide additional responses.
With 218 signatures necessary to force a vote on the ground of the room, the fate of the resolution may depend on the results of four open breeds of the congress. The first of these competitions was decided last Tuesday in the 7th district of the Arizona Congress, when Democrat Adelita Grijalva beat the republican candidate Daniel Boutière.
The appellant contacted Luna and Mace to comment but did not receive an answer before the publication.
