The representative Andy Ogles (R-TN) urges the Ministry of Justice to investigate the candidate of the town hall of New York, Zohran Mamdani, for a possible denaturation, claiming that Mamdani may not have disclosed sympathies or support for people condemned for offenses related to terrorism before becoming an American citizen. The appeal has aroused strong criticism from the Democrats in the Chamber, which describe the actions of Ogles as “non-American”, “Islamophobic” and “anti-immigrants”.

Ogles Thursday poster On X: “Zohran” Little Muhammad “Mamdani is an anti -Semitic communist, socialist, who will destroy the big city in New York. It must be expelled. This is why I call it to be the subject of denaturalizing procedures. ”

Attached to the post of post to the Attorney General Pam Bondi urging an official survey under USC § 1451 (A), which makes it possible to revoke naturalized citizenship if an individual lied or hidden associations with terrorist groups during the naturalization process.

“According to public reports, including on June 21, 2025, New York Post Article, Mr. Mamdani expressed his open solidarity with individuals found guilty of offenses related to terrorism before becoming American citizen, “wrote Ogles.” More specifically, he struck: “Free the Holy Land five / my guys”. The Holy Land Foundation was sentenced in 2008 for providing material support to Hamas, a foreign terrorist organization designated in the United States. Public presence of the condemned management of the Foundation as “my guys” raises serious concerns as to whether Mr. Mamdani presented affiliations or sympathies which he did not disclose during the naturalization process. »»

Ogles has recognized the potential concerns of the first amendment, but said that public praise for people recognized as guilty of terrorism can cause a legitimate investigation into the fact that Mamdani has initiated support or non -disclosed advocacy relevant to naturalization.

Ogles underlined Mamdani’s refusal to distinguish himself from the slogan “Globalize The Itifada”, which he described as “a pro-terrorist rallying cry” and “a call to extend violent attacks against civilians in the United States and in the world”. He argued that, maintained with the past praise of Mamdani for people who are guilty of offenses related to terrorism, the model “deserves an official exam”.

“The naturalization process depends on the disclosure of good faith of any affiliation with groups that threaten American national security,” concluded Ogles. “If Mr. Mamdani has hidden relevant associations, this concealment can constitute a large, sufficient false declaration to support denaturalization under federal law.”

In response, the representative Ritchie Torres (D-NY), a vocal support of Israel and Zionism, rejected Ogles the push as an unacceptable attack on the faith and citizenship of Mamdani.

“It is not a secret for anyone that I have deep disagreements with Zohran Mamdani. But each democrat – and each decent person – should be expressed with moral clarity against the despicable Islamophobic attacks that have been directed,” Torres noted.

“Demanding the expulsion of an American citizen simply because he is Muslim – or simply because he has different political opinions from yours – is not only fanatic. It is deeply non -American. Fanaticism in each form must be rejected unequivocal.”

Other Democrats have also condemned the comments of the Ogles. Rep. Summer Lee (D-PA) denounced The letter indicating: “The level of open and uncontrolled Muslim hatred, fanaticism and fear of fearing it everywhere on television, social media and the congress is disgusting. Members like Andy Ogles should not be censored, they should be out of this work. ”

Rep. Susie Lee (D-NV) added“I do not agree with most of Zohran Mamdani policies. At the same time, let’s be clear that Islamophobia is real and that it endangers as well as Muslims through our country. I condemn the representative of the representative Andy Ogles.
