Boards Need to Rethink How They Advise CEOs

In these uncertain and disrupted times, the usual patterns of discussion within boards of directors must evolve. But there is a paradox at play. Boards of directors are made up of people with considerable business experience, wisdom and insight; nevertheless, many CEOs feel lost. Let’s look at some data from the AlixPartners Disruption Index survey: 72% of CEOs say it’s increasingly difficult for them to set priorities amid a storm of disruptive forces. Yet nearly nine in 10 (87%) say their boards and investment groups have the right people and knowledge to help them address these forces.
