Google thinks it can have AI summaries and a healthy web, too

So, I don’t want to talk about the details of the trial, but I can talk about our philosophy here, namely, look, we want a healthy ecosystem. The 10 blue links serve the ecosystem very well, and it was a simple value proposal. We have provided links that led users for free to billions of publications around the world. We are not going to abandon this model. We think it is used for this model. It is always an important part of the ecosystem.
But user preferences, and what users want, also changes. Thus, instead of factual responses and 10 blue links, they want more and more responses and contextual summaries. We also want to be able to provide this, while bringing people back to content, precious content, on the internet. Where this precious content is for users, moves. And it is therefore a dynamic space. In the end, our goal is to make sure that we have a global healthy ecosystem.
