Chiefs WR Rashee Rice to be full participant in training camp despite upcoming jail stint
The Kansas City chiefing receiver, Rashee Rice, will fully participate in the team’s training camp despite their being Recently sentenced to prison sentence.
On Sunday, the day before the presence of the players, the chiefing coach Andy Reid said that Rice would be a full participant in the camp. Reid’s decision comes three days after Rice was sentenced to 30 days in prison and five years of probation for his role in a multi-carvitation accident in 2024 in Dallas, Texas.
“We are going to progress as usual with him,” said Reid, according to the Associated Press. “He will enter and take all the representatives he will normally take. We always turn this position. According to what is happening here with the future, the one who needs playing will intervene and know what they are doing and will be in good shape to do it.”

On Friday, Rice, 25, received his conviction as part of a advocacy agreement following an incident where he and another excessive driver caused a chain reaction accident that injured several people on a Dallas motorway. According to the prosecutors, Rice led 119 MPH at the time of the accident and then fled the premises on foot. Rice pleaded guilty to two accusations of crime in the third degree of collision involving serious bodily and racing injuries on a highway causing bodily injuries.
Speculation persists On the way in which Rice’s condemnation will have an impact on his career in the NFL. The league should suspend him, but Reid said he had no update on Rice’s status for the coming season. Last week, NFL spokesperson Brian McCarthy said the league “closely monitored all developments in this area that remains in revision”.
According to the Associated Press, Rice will have a “flexibility” for when he purges his 30 -day sentence.
Rice is entering his third NFL season. Last year, he captured 24 passes for 288 yards and two affected in the first three games before going down with a knee injury at the end of the season during week 4. Without rice, the chiefs qualified for the Super Bowl but lost against the Eagles of Philadelphia.
On his return, Rice should play a big role in the Kansas City offensive. Asked about the knee injury, Reid said last month that Rice would be “ready to leave” at the start of the training camp.
