Granger Smith’s wife reveals husband put gun in mouth after son’s drowning

Granger Smith’s wife, Amber Smith, opens with a devastating chapter in their lives.

THE Former 46 -year -old Star in the country And the 42 -year -old actress underwent a tragedy in 2019 when their 3 -year -old River son drowned in the pool outside of their Texas House.

Granger previously revealed in his memoirs in 2023 “as a river” which he almost followed after having reached one of his lowest points after the loss of his son.

In her next memoirs “The girl on the bathroom”, Amber told the heartbreaking night of Granger’s suicide attempt from her point of view, detailing how her husband “put a cold 9 mm in her mouth”. She also said he had told her years later how close he was to pull the trigger.

“He was released with the guys from Boisse, in Idaho, a night after a show,” started an aside in an extract from the book published by People Magazine Thursday.

“They went to the local bar, laughed and told old stories, while drinking more than he had done since the death of River,” she continued. “When the evening ended, he found himself drunk by turning alone on his tourist bus.”

Amber wrote that when Granger returned, he had trouble getting on the tourist bus because he did not remember the door code – a set of figures he had supported on hundreds of times.

Once inside the bus, Granger “achieved the severity of the situation” because it “had not been drunk for a very long time”.

“Fearing that it will only make all the emotions and pain come back, he quickly caught the pen of the weeds and took a hit, hoping that it would make him come out of his drunk state, but nothing has changed,” wrote Amber.

Amber described how her husband was overwhelmed by the “slideshow” to torment the mental images of their son’s last moments.

“Visions of the Facedown river in the swimming pool attacked his thoughts and lies pierced his conscience that he was a failure as a father, that he had dropped the river,” she continued. “In a moment of total despair, he tried for the pistol he kept in the drawer by his bed for safety on the road, aiming to end the pain.”

“That night, my sweet and incredible husband, the wonderful father of my children, put a cold glock at 9 mm in his mouth.”

Amber shared that she was still struggling with sorrow on her husband’s struggle with suicide during this dark moment.

“I cry even by typing this,” she wrote. “It breaks my heart that he had the impression that it was the only way out. I would have liked to know. I would have liked to be able to catch him, shake him and say:” You are a good father! I love you! We have that! This is not the way! “”

“But I didn’t have to do it,” she continued. “By the pure grace of God, Granger realized that the voice telling him quietly to draw the relaxation was not his. He suddenly realized that he was attacked. He was engulfed in the spiritual war.”

Amber wrote that Granger, who is now Minister, turned to his faith during this moment of crisis.

“He did the only thing he knew how to do, shouting,” Jesus, save me! Save me, please, Jesus, save me! “”, She wrote in the book. “At the moment of shouting to God, the visions suddenly stopped, the pistol slipped with his hand and he collapsed on the ground, falling asleep in a puddle of his own tears, entirely dressed on the ground of the bathroom of his bus.”

Amber recalled that Granger had sent him a text the next morning, saying he had “a terrible night”, drunk too much and “found himself face to face with Satan”.

“He never shared with me that he came so close to pulling the trigger,” she wrote. “Not before three and a half later.”

In April 2024, Smith announced on Instagram that he had decided to retire country music hasAnd his summer tour “like a river”, which was appointed for his late son, would be his last.

In an interview with Entertainment this evening in August 2024, Granger recalled that he was thinking of his two older children – his daughter of London, now aged 14, and his son Lincoln, now 11 years old – when he was considering suicide.

“I had a thought and it was Lincoln and London, my two children at home. It was the first thought that struck me,” he said. “I thought I had just seen their faces and then I said,” Jesus, help me. “”

He explained that the delivery to his faith at that time put him on his way to become minister.
