Netflix is bringing these 5 fun party games to your TV soon – and this Among Us-style clone could be the highlight

- Netflix brings a new line of multiplayer board games to its TV experience
- They should arrive in time for the end-of-year holidays, starting with five games including Lego Party! and Tetris Time Warp
- Netflix has been dabbling in games since 2021, but this is the first time it’s offered board games on television
Netflix is combining movie night with game night, as the top streaming service has just revealed plans to bring a slew of new multiplayer board games to Netflix on TV, rolling out this holiday season.
According to Netflix, its new board games are “coming soon” and you can play them directly from the Netflix app. As of 2021, Netflix has been working to provide its subscribers with gaming experiences, but this is limited to mobile-only use. As for its new TV board games, they’ve already given us a taste of what to expect – and in all honesty, it’s a pretty solid lineup.
One of the five new games is Lego Party!which released for Nintendo Switch last month and would cost you the best part of ($39.99 / £34.99) to purchase the game separately. Membership Lego Party! East Boggle Partya race against the clock anagram puzzle game, as well as Pictionary: Game Night And Tetris Time Warp – classics in their own right.
The fifth board game, and the one that intrigues me the most, is called Party Crashers: trick your friends. From its description, it sounds like a social deduction game similar to Among Us, where you have to narrow down your group of friends and figure out the “party crasher.” I’m already starting to think about how much fun my friends and I are going to have with this one.
Some things to keep in mind
As you start planning your future hybrid movie and game nights, there are a few things to consider. For example, Netflix’s new board games are included in your monthly subscription and will require the Netflix Game Controller app on your mobile device to control the fun on your TV screen.
iOS users can download the app from the App Store and get started that way, but the case is different for Android users. According to CNET, if you have an Android device, you’ll need to download the Netflix app from the Google Play Store, then scan a QR code on your TV to start playing Netflix’s board games. You’ll also have to scan the code every time you want to start a game, which is the only major downside.
Netflix has yet to reveal a release date, but we expect its board game series to arrive just in time for the holiday season. The streaming service starts with the five mentioned above, announcing that there’s more to come: “This is just the beginning – stay tuned for more news and get ready to play, connect and have fun together on Netflix.”
