Green Chef Review 2025: I Tested the Meal Kit On Picky Eaters

I love to cook. I also like not to have to plan meals, make a grocery store or chop vegetables after a long day. This is why I have always been curious about meal kits – and after putting the green chief through the spinner of the long list of food restrictions from my family, I am here to deliver a very honest green chief review. As a lactose intolerant pescatarian with gluten -free family members and a small kitchen in New York, I wanted to see if this meal delivery service could really work for real home cooks (read: chaotic). Spoiler: I was pleasantly surprised, but not totally without complaints.

How I tested

Green Chef sent me three meals in total, designed for two portions each (although the parties were not the most generous). I chose meals that align with my pescatarian and gluten -free preferences from my family and family. I have a Tériyaki salmon, a Tilapia coconut curry and a spicy shrimp dish with a surprise from Bacon (Womp Wabp). I was a little disappointed that I only Received meals focused on seafood. It would have been pleasant to mix things with a plant -based option. My sister said she was a bit of seafood at the end of the few days we tested these meals. I prepared each meal an afternoon or a different night, cooking for myself or with family, to have a good feeling of ease, preparation and flavor.

My criticism of the honest green chief

The box is well insulated. I was impressed by its organization – each meal had its own brown paper bag (very cute) with each article labeled clearly. A small reproach: while most of the proteins were cold and secure, the fish was not entirely up to my standards. I am a bit of a seafood snob (Wild taken, please), and Green Chef’s was high. However, it did the job.

Benefits:

  • Food customization that actually works (mainly)

Green Chef gets major points to be one of the most inclusive kits I have seen. Whether you are keto, vegan, gluten -free or just try to sneak more vegetables in your life, there is a plan for you. As a pescatarian with dairy sensitivity, I loved being able to connect my preferences and obtain an organized menu that did not make me feel like a reflection afterwards. Although it did not take place for me to leave aside dairy products, it was not too difficult for me to leave these ingredients out of my dishes so that family members can always enjoy their cheese and cream.

  • So easy that my water dad cannot do it

My father, who only recently discovered how to do the lawyer toast, took cooking as a retirement hobby. And even he found the instructions that are easy to follow. The recipes are clearly broken down, with numbered steps, photos and fatty ingredients that make a breeze skimming.

  • Restaurant restaurant vibes

Aside from an onion and the few occasional herbs, all the vegetables came prechoppted and the sauces were ready to leave. Everything met quickly and finished beautifully – I really felt like I was serving a dish for which I could pay $ 28 in a fashionable restaurant in Tribeca.
